Saverio advises sports organisations, federations, clubs and athletes in international sports disputes, with a particular focus on proceedings before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
We are pleased to announce the incorporation of Saverio Spera to our team. His practice covers a broad range of arbitration and litigation matters, including contractual and employment-related disputes, governance, disciplinary and ethics proceedings, eligibility issues, anti-doping and regulatory matters at international federation level.
Prior to joining the firm, Saverio worked as Senior Legal Counsel at FIFA, where he represented the organisation in more than 150 proceedings before CAS. He initially served within the Players’ Status Department, advising on employment contracts and transfers under the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP), and later joined the Litigation Department as Senior Legal Counsel.
Saverio has a strong international academic and professional background. He holds an LL.M. in International Business Law from King’s College London and has conducted research at the Asser Institute in The Hague on CAS jurisprudence and the regulatory framework of international sports bodies. In 2024, he co-founded an international sports law firm based in Zurich and further specialised in EU competition law through advanced studies at the London School of Economics and the College of Europe.
He regularly lectures in FIFA academic programmes and publishes in specialised sports law journals. He is also a member of the Adjudicatory Body of the Integrity Unit of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF).
We are confident that his addition will further strengthen our practice.
