Carol, a Swiss-trained Attorney-At-Law, has a profound knowledge of all aspects of national and international sports law (litigation and party representation before the Swiss Federal Tribunal, the Court of Arbitration for Sport or before international and national sports bodies, in compliance, governance or regulatory matters) as well as in data protection matters.

 

From 2017 to 2019, Carol Etter worked as in-house Legal Counsel for a Bundesliga Club in Germany. Her tasks included litigation before the state courts and the relevant sports associations (DFB, UEFA, FIFA and CAS) in contractual or disciplinary proceedings, the drafting of players’ and coaches’ employments contracts, transfer contracts, the enforcement of claims arising from the solidarity mechanism and training compensation. In addition, she worked in the areas of data protection, compliance, trademark and marketing law. Carol was therefore involved in all legal aspects and relationships (internal or external) of the club and sat on congresses or committees on behalf of the club.

 

Prior to this, Carol worked in an international law firm in Basel with a strong focus on employment law and general contract law.

 

Carol completed her law studies at the University of Basel in 2010 and was admitted to the Swiss Bar in 2012. In 2017 she completed her studies in international sports law at the Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economia (ISDE).

 

Carol regularly publishes articles in the field of national and international sports law and data protection law.
